How Living Aloha Creations began...
We are often asked how we started this small family business…It is a cute and true story that we are happy to share with you...
Several years ago, I worked at a locally owned lei stand in Waikiki. A favorite hobby of mine has always been to go seashell hunting. In fact as a little girl growing up, I sold seashells by the seashore … not much has changed!
My daughter Summer, and I had found some pretty shells, Isabella's cowrie, I believe they were. Summer and I pulled out the household electric drill and made earrings out of them. Shortly after, I was working at the lei stand when a customer inquired about my earrings, asking me where I had bought them. I told her I had made them. She asked me to make her some. After going home from her vacation, I received an order from her for 10 more pairs…I used that money to buy a proper drill and "Living Aloha Creations" was born!
I started selling just a few handmade items on a small 18" x 24" board. We then moved to a 6' x 6' blue tent which lasted a week or two… Then came the sparsely filled 10' x 10' white tent which some of my original customers tell me they remember. After a short month on a corner in Waikiki, we were invited to be the very first "non-food" tent at the Hyatt Farmers Market in Waikiki! Two+ years later we are pleased to be in the very center of the market, across from the waterfall in a large 10' x 15' black tent which many of you would recognize! Our tables and "walls" are filled to the brim with everything from sterling silver and Tahitian pearls to Larimar and Hawaiian Koa wood. We also have hand-carved wooden sea life, Hawaiian weapons and sea shells as well as our famous "4 for $10" Aloha table… you can't call our tables sparse anymore!
We love our customers and strive to give each and everyone of you the best value we can as well as a huge helping of Aloha ✿◠‿◠ . Our goal is "happy repeat customers". We want you to love your purchases and feel good about shopping with us! It makes us very happy when our customers tell us that they made sure to find us during their vacation because they had shopped with us in the past and wanted to find us again!
Our customers often give us great suggestions… One of which was a request for a clasp for a lady with arthritis. I designed a necklace with a handmade infinity clasp which I also made adjustable so that it can be worn anywhere between 16 and 20 inches in length. My customers loved this so much that now I offer almost every single necklace the option to have these handmade custom upgrades… Another request we heard over and over was for a website… Here it is!
Our customers are wonderful and we love to hear from you ~ Many of you are becoming our extended "Ohana"!
